Meet Eric K. Smith

Eric K. Smith is the founder and sole proprietor of EKS Law. After graduating from law school summa cum laude, Eric practiced with Fisher & Phillips and Littler Mendelson, two of the most preeminent labor/employment firms in the world. He began his legal career with F&P in 1995 and he joined Littler in 1997. Eric became a Shareholder at Littler in 2003 and he remained with that firm for over seventeen years before starting EKS Law in early 2015.

Eric has extensive experience and expertise in a wide array of employment law, business law, and HR-related topics, including (but not limited to): post-employment covenants, trade secret rights, and unfair competition; employment contracts and other employment/business-related agreements; unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; workplace investigations; the FMLA and other employee leave laws; disability accommodation; and performance-management and discharge. Eric is a seasoned litigator, having successfully represented clients in hundreds of cases in state and federal courts throughout the country. He is also a certified mediator, a role in which he helps disputing parties escape the litigation maze and resolve their differences via settlement.
